*Hatha is a foundational type of yoga that complements and enriches other types of yoga. It’s great for anyone including beginners and a wonderful practice to return to again and again.
Unlike Vinyasa, the emphasis on asana in Hatha is on individual postures rather than flow, which makes Hatha a good place to work on mindful breathing, physical vigor, balance, focus and concentration, introspection and self-study.
The 8 limbs of yoga are: Yamas (ethical standards), Niyamas (self-discipline), Asana (physical postures), Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (transcendence).

I’m Jody Ford
Yoga Teacher, occasional sharer of Wisdom, Author and Crone.
After practicing, learning, and teaching for over 20 years, my expertise has evolved into teaching Functional Approach Yoga.
This approach draws on the traditional roots of *Hatha Yoga and Patanjali's 8-limbed path while offering Yoga practices that suit the unique needs of individuals. This is achieved by combining classical yoga postures and practices with contemporary approaches and supports while moving beyond strict, rigid standards and idealized (asana) poses or yoga "style".
Functional Yoga emphasizes accessibility, individuality, personal expression and nervous system regulation.
I want you to know that Yoga is for everyone and not reserved exclusively for those who are young, flexible, thin, or have the best yoga pants.
You can practice Yoga and have fun too !
Barbara Walker writes in her book The Crone:
“The Crone’s title was related to the word crown and she represented the power of the ancient tribal matriarch who made the moral and legal decisions for her subjects and descendants.
